Amidst the protests taking place in Hong Kong, one girl still managed to get all the attention focused on her, and not in a good way. Chai Yan Leung, daughter of current Chief Executive of the Executive Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Leung Chin-Yang (CY Leung) caused quite the stir on Facebook when she posted a pretty obnoxious and rude response to some of the backlash she was getting. The backlash however, had nothing to do with the protests. It was backlash on the necklace she was wearing. For some reason, she kept her Facebook profile open and public (that’s a cry for attention right?).
[pull_quote_center]This is actually a beautiful necklace bought at Lane Crawford (yes- funded by all you HK taxpayers!! So are all my beautiful shoes and dresses and clutches!! Thank you so much!!!!) Actually maybe I shouldn’t say ‘all you’- since most of you here are probably unemployed hence have all this time obsessed with bombarding me with messages.[/pull_quote_center]
She calls upon the economic status and the education level of those who commented and basically calls them stupid, useless, and irrelevant (see the full post below). Considering tens of thousands of HK citizens are protesting for her father to step down from his position, maybe this stint wasn’t necessary. No word as to what Mom and Dad have to say about the situation but, from the look of Chai Yan Leung’s social media history, they may be neglecting her a little bit.
In two seperate instances this summer, Chai Yan Leung posted controversial topics on her Facebook; the first, a self harm photo and the second, a post questioning her mother’s loyalty and virtue. this being said, maybe she needs to think a little harder before she posts on her social media.
What comes into question is whether or not she actually cares about the damage she is doing. Our thoughts, probably not. But from the pictures she posted, she might need a little mental support that her parents may not be giving her. We guess that her parents are often busy with politics and she is being neglected. Despite this; we hope she can get the help she deserves and realize the consequences of her actions.
What do you think about Chai Yan Leung’s social media posts?
